What are the benefits of working for SKIL-TECH?
Our focus is to keep you working year around instead of experiencing the many common lay-offs in the construction industry. Since we work with many contractors, we can put you on another project if the one you are on comes to an end. SKIL-TECH will pay you top wages for your area and skill level, and provide a full Benefit Package for you and your family. Our benefits include a choice of health insurance plans, dental and optical insurance, prescription drug card, free life insurance, optional disability insurance,
401(k) retirement plan, paid vacation and holidays, as well as safe and convenient weekly direct deposit of your payroll.

How long do I have to work for SKIL-TECH before I am eligible for benefits?
The eligibility for each benefit will vary, however health, dental, optical, life and prescription coverage is available to you after working just 320 regular hours. More detailed information and any questions you may have will be answered when you interview at the SKIL-TECH Office nearest you.

How soon can I be working?
Every craftsman that applies with SKIL-TECH is given a one-on-one interview. The District Manager in your area will interview you, check references, safety train you and then match your talents and experience level with the best contractor. The time that this process takes is different for each candidate, however, if you qualify we will have you working as quickly as possible.

What type of work is available?
SKIL-TECH hires craftsmen for the following positions: rough and trim carpenters, concrete flatwork and walls, install and service electricians, HVAC installers and technicians, brick and block masons, painters, plumbers, steelworkers, welders, helpers and laborers. We are always interviewing in all districts. For a more complete list of trades SKIL-TECH hires, please go to Trades Available.

Why does SKIL-TECH drug test its employees?
Although SKIL-TECH has no intentions of intruding into your private life, we recognize the misuse of alcohol or any illicit drug eventually takes its toll on job performance. Our concern is to ensure that you report to work in condition to perform your duties saf ely and efficiently in the interest of your fellow workers, clients and customers, as well as yourself.

Tell me about the SKIL-TECH 401(k) Retirement plan.
When you become eligible to participate in our 401(k) Retirement Plan through American United Life Insurance Company, you may choose from a list of investments and participate by saving from 1% to 15% of your gross income. Convenient payroll deduction is on a pre-tax basis and is your advantage to growing your retirement dollars quickly and painlessly.

If I relocate in Wisconsin or Minnesota, can I still find work with SKIL-TECH?
Yes. Contact your District Manager as soon as you are aware of an upcoming move. He will contact the District Manager in your relocation area to try to have a position ready for you when your move is complete.

Are there evening hours that I can reach my District Manager?
Each District Manager has evening hours each week to facilitate visits from his employees. If you have any questions, concerns or just want to chat, your District Manager welcomes keeping in touch with you. See the Office Locations for details on each of our offices.
